Community Environmental Education Program
Together with companies in the renewable energy sector, we have developed a series of courses on climate change, renewable energy and eco-technologies. This with the purpose of positively impacting the development of two communities that have a shortage of drinking water in Aguascalientes.
Our work
Environmental education will be incorporated into the Nicolás Bravo and Benito Juárez elementary schools as a way to protect the environment and ensure sustainable development in the communities of El Moquete and Los Sandovales.
In effect, environmental education seeks to stimulate environmental awareness and sensitivity, strengthen ecological knowledge, attitudes and values, and generate the necessary commitment to carry out actions and develop ethical responsibilities in people regarding the rational use of resources.
Likewise, environmental education emphasizes the teaching of nature and the environment in a holistic manner, promoting an interdisciplinary approach that emphasizes critical thinking and develops a problem-solving perspective.
Although environmental education is a lifelong process, it should begin as early as possible. According to UNESCO;
"...elementary school is the most natural place to incorporate children into environmental education as it is at this level that they instinctively have a holistic view of the environment; they have not yet been trained to compartmentalize their learning into separate subjects as they will have to do in secondary and higher education."
Through environmental education, the children of the Nicolás Bravo and Benito Juárez elementary schools will be motivated to become actively involved in the exploration of their immediate environment through tools that will provide them with the understanding of certain concepts as well as the realization of certain activities selected based on their context. Ideally, actions in favor of the environment will seek to transcend beyond the school context, recognizing the fundamental link that is established between schools and communities such as El Moquete and Los Sandovales. Indeed, positive action will be encouraged both at the individual level (with the children) and at the level of the community as a whole.
