We operate the Ilumínate program, an initiative of the Mexican Solar Energy Association, which links companies within ASOLMEX with the more than two million people who do not have lighting in their homes.
This program works through exchange, mothers donate a little of their work, crafts or other items, once received, the lighting kit is delivered. This is generated with the purpose that the systems are valued, last and are well used.
DATA
DatosMexico has close to 2 million people who lack electricity, located mainly in marginalized areas.
Between 2018 and 2019 we will bring +250 kits to these communities in Mexico.
Through funding from companies within the Mexican Solar Energy Association, we will continue to bring this precious resource to families in Jalisco, Zacatecas, Chiapas, among other states.
+ 250 families within the program
INCLUDES
3 individual switches
1 Battery with more than 24 hrs battery life and USB port for cellular phones
1 Mini solar panel
1 Mobile solar lamp
Motivation
Families are forced to use firewood or candles as lighting sources.
The use of these products affects their health because they produce toxic fumes and, in the long term, damage the respiratory tract and cause irreversible damage to their health.
It is estimated that between 5 and 15% of a family's disposable income is spent on the purchase of fuels for lighting.
The least favored families that do not have a basic electric lighting service do not receive any subsidy for this service either.
The rest of the families with electricity receive a subsidy of $1,000 pesos per year on average.
